The IPC-A-620 certified optional hands-pm training has been developed to help users and trainers of the document become more familiar with the practical basics of cable and wire harness fabrication.
Focusing on process tooling and inspection requirements, students are required to follow design drawing and manufactures data sheets to fabricate, inspect and test the cable harness assemblies, incorporating soldered terminals, open and closed barrel crimping, lacing, slicing and shielding.
If a CIT wishes to teach the hands-on projects, the CIT would need to complete the entire assembly in the additional days training.
The CIS hands-on training is modular and can be applied to the individual sections covered during the students CIS training. The CIS student would need to complete the theory module of their certification and complete only the portion of the hands-on project that applies to the tested theory material.
