New revision of IPC/WHMA-A-620 now available

Benefit from Hundreds of Enhancements in the Revised Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies Standard!

Significant technical additions and updates, greater ease-of-use, and compatibility with other key assembly standards are among the many changes you will find in the newly released B revision of IPC/WHMA-A-620, Requirements and Acceptance of Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies. IPC and the Wire Harness Manufacturer’s Association (WHMA) worked together to develop this update — the ONLY industry-consensus standard of its kind.

Included in its 19 chapters are criteria for: wire prep; soldering to terminals; crimping of stamped-and-formed and machined contacts; ultrasonic welding; connectors; marking; coax/biax cables; wrapping/lacing; shielding; assembly and wire-wrap terminations. Plus, 682 full-color pictures and illustrations help clarify criteria throughout this 400-page standard.

Find greatly expanded criteria for:

  • Molding and potting
  • Splicing
  • Crimp contacts without insulation support
  • Inline insulation displacement connectors
  • Connectorization
  • Rigid and conformable cable
  • Flexible sleeving
  • Broomstitching
  • Testing
  • And more!

Other enhancements include:

  • 125 new or updated full-color pictures and illustrations
  • New section on flow down to subcontractors
  • Greater compatibility with J-STD-001E and IPC-A-610E
  • Newly added UL, SAE and IEC pull-force tables to address varying reliability requirements and markets in different regions
  • Free downloadable redline document that shows changes between revisions A and B
